Information about Mississippi

Named after America’s most storied waterway – which serves as most of the state’s western border – Mississippi was organized as a territory in 1798 and was admitted as the 20th state to join the Union on December 10, 1817. Jackson is the capital city and the largest Metropolitan area. State government in Mississippi has assembled a library on information about attractions in the state, you can find access to them on the Visit Mississippi Website

Mississippi is one of the most aggressive – and successful – states at economic development, thanks to several organizations that collaborate to attract new business to the state:
The Mississippi Development Authority
The Mississippi Economic Development Council
The Northern Mississippi Industrial Development Association
And the Official State Website

And there are regional organizations that collaborate with the three communities in the Golden Triangle:
Mississippi Economic Council (State Chamber of Commerce)
Mississippi State University
East Mississippi Community College
